Research proposal
Project management textbooks usually discuss the concept of the project organisation, frequently in terms of the matrix structure. These are theoretical constructs, and are not always encountered in practice.
This research proposes a theoretical model of organisations structures derived from a review general business and project management literature. Practicing project managers will be surveyed, and the structures and their effect on the project investigated.
It is expected that the research will find that organisation structures designed to support project management vary widely, that these structures can be categorised, and that there is an appreciable link between structure and the practice of project management.
