Old boys run: Sunday breakfast at the Old School House in Hebden, near Burnsall.
Pateley Bridge bandstand: This lovely village sits in a valley close to Harrogate, and it boasts the oldest sweet shop in the UK (didn't take long to find that!)
Middlesmoor: Up the valley from Pateley Bridge, this tiny village clings to the side of the hills.
Paul's Field: Across the road from Golden Acre.
Knaresborough: Folded into the steep river valley, Knaresborough has a number of tourist sights. This old bridge still carries the daily trains.

Gargrave Cafe: A small tearoom on the route between Leeds and the Lakes, it is filled with niknaks and displays of hard sweets.
Ripon Cathedral: Taken with a Nikon FM and 36-72mm lens, I was taken aback by the painterly quality that the Fuji Reala film gave to this scene.
Armscliff Crag: Across the River Wharfe from Otley, this gritstone outcrop is a magnet for climbers. Again taken with the FM and 36-72mm with Superia film.
Armscliff Crag: Taken in December 2009 with a D700 and the pro 35-70mm f/2.8 AFD lens. Compare this to the above - digital has overtaken film in some respects, but possibly not others! I love the painterly feel of the film.

Staithes: Tucked into a narrow valley and sheltered by a crabs claw breakwater, Staithes was a fishing village that is now supported by tourism like many others.

Approaching storm: Looking towards Bolton Abbey (in the far valley leading off to the right).
Bolton Castle: A distant view early in the morning. Film photography still has a place, with subtle hues and smooth transitions and a wide dynamic range.
Pine woodLooking up into leafless trees. Fuji Velvia and FM3a, taken near Thruscross Reservoir.
Fields near Walton: The summer crop ready for harvesting.
Filey: This small seaside town near Scarborough has a nice beach.
Sunset: Taken along the Leeds-Bradford canal, near Apperley Bridge moorings.
Ayrsgarth Falls: Apparently the setting for the river scene in the Robin Hood movie.

Scampston Hall: Enormous grounds and a nice nursery and tea-room on the road to Scarborough. The river and pond is worth a visit, with birdlife including woodpeckers, cranes and of course ducks and swans.
Whitby from the abbey: A freezing wind with stinging hail was driving in off the sea. My first visit to the North Sea!
Reflections of York Minster: Unusual views of the Minster.
Kelsey Scar: Near Malham, this daunting bulge squats over the inn at its base.
Flamborough Chalk: Cliffs teaming with birdlife, and polished white rocks below. This coastline is rapidly being eaten away by the sea.
Hiking near Ribblehead: The Ribblehead viaduct carries the Settle Carlisle railway, and was built at great cost in human life. And we wonder why the health and safety laws are so excessive in the UK!
The Hole: A great dent in the earth on the way to Whitby.
