21 Nov 2009: These Golden Acre residents were more sociable, thanks to the nip in the air and the seeds and nuts. Taken with the 600mm and D700, the light was only allowing me to shoot at 1/60th second wide open. I thought the landing page needed a change, and the curious robin seemed a nice choice. A bit of editing later and voila... here

19 Nov 2009: Oh well, it's only money! A Nikon 800mm and 600mm added to the stable - let's hope there are birds left on this island after all this wind.

15 Nov 2009: A walk in the park. Roundhay Park hasn't lost all of its autumn leaves, and the view was quite pleasant during a brief respite in the weather.

14 Nov 2009: Rainbow over the Aire. Taken from the study window as the light was fading. I've been stuck in front of the computer for weeks, working through a two page to-do list. Hopefully this is a lucky omen for the winter!

25 Oct 2009: Gorge walking in Langdale, part of the residential weekend for BSc students and a freezing dip to clear their hangovers!

24 Oct 2009: Autumn in the Lakes is beautiful. Day 1 of the residential weekend, with plenty of rain and wind. The wet leaves on the roads were lethal.

18 Oct 2009: Autumn surf. Ray took his new Tiki board out into Cayton Bay after a long haggle with the surf shop owner. Even surfers have to change style and boards as the years pass by!

04 Oct 2009: Leading lines on the beach at Spurn Point, mouth of the Humber. The wind was blowing, but the air was light and crisp. There was an oil rig waiting in the Humber for the change of the tide (here) and the Spurn Point lighthouse offers some photographic opportunities (here). The only problem was the high contrast between sky and shadow (such as here) - this will be a nice location to shoot at sunrise or sunset, or I should invest in some Lee filters.

03 Oct 2009: I noticed this Volksie bus with Queensland (Oz) plates lurking in my street. Whether it came here by road or sea, it must have a few stories to tell.

01 Oct 2009: The past month has been chaotic. I finally submitted the PhD for assessment, then had a mountain of neglected office work to catch up. Then there was a document management system to write for a client. Since I've been staring at this scene for 10 days, I just thought I'd share...
